FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. What is the importance of thread count...and is it really mostly hype or not?
If you watch Beverly Hills 90210, you may have seen it…kids asking other kids, “What thread count are your sheets on your bed?” Seems everyone is hung up on high thread count sheets. Higher is better, 500 thread count is better than 200, Egyptian Cotton is the best, etc. Take it from us, relying on thread count to determine which sheets are the best is not only inaccurate, but it reflects a poor understanding of how sheets should be chosen. Thread count is, just like it sounds, a method of determining how many threads are woven into a square inch of material. But it has nothing really to do with choosing the right sheet for you. By far, most people are quite comfortable with a good set of 200 or 300 thread count sheets. They are lightweight, great for “hot sleepers”, ventilate well, and have a good “hand”, or feel to them. That is, they are not coarse, wear well over time, can be machine washed without being distressed, and provide years of reliable use. If you love satin sheets, buy higher thread count, like 400, or even 600. But remember this, the higher the thread count, the greater the weight, and they generally sleep a bit warmer. If you’re going to invest in luxurious sheets, we recommend our 600 Thread Count Egyptian Cotton Sheets.
2. What are the dimensions for mattresses?

Twin XL (Twin Extra Long): 39" x 80"
Full: 54" x 75"Full XL (Full Extra Long) 54”x80”
Queen: 60" x 80"

3. How do I properly measure for a bedskirt?
To properly measure for a bedskirt drop, measure from the TOP of the box spring to the floor. There should be about a ½” space between the bottom of the bedskirt and the floor, to prevent bunching and to keep the material off of the floor surface. Our standard bedskirt has an 18” drop, although 15” and 21” drop bedskirts are available. You must call us to special order the 15” and 21” drop, and there is a $30.00 upcharge for these services.
4. Why is a mattress protector important for a mattress?
Mattress protectors are more than just a protective cover to extend the life of your expensive mattress. They also keep your mattress clean and dry, ultimately increasing your comfort for a good night's sleep. Our mattress protectors are not only 100 percent waterproof, but also eliminate dustmites, a major source of allergens for many people. Other allergens are not able to pass through the waterproof, yet breathable space age material used in our protectors. We highly recommend ordering one of our Platinum Mattress Protectors at the same time you order new sheets or bedding sets.
Our mattress protector is crafted from a material so technologically advanced, its origins are rooted in the medical research community. Imagine a fitted sheet, with a soft, thin cotton pile top, and the underside being an electrostatically bonded polyurethane film, that is waterproof, dustmite proof, and hypoallergenic, but still ventilates, allowing your mattress to breath. Protect your mattress investment with this space-age cover. Easily removed for washing and drying, and reasonably priced. All sizes just $59. Use on Tempur-Pedic mattresses and still experience all of the tactile benefits of the Tempur material. If you’ve got a potential for liquid spillage, are allergic to dustmites, and want an easy to remove cover, this is it.
5. How are your comforters in your Super Pack 11 and 13 piece sets made?
Our comforters are deep quilted with over 16 oz. (more than one pound!) of hand packed fiberfill material, and the underside of each comforter is backed with coordinating 200 thread count sheet weight material. It is then finished with rope twist cording or self cording detail on three sides. You simply will not find a “poofier”, more luxurious, and generously filled comforter, anywhere.
6. What are the sizes of your comforters?
Queen Comforter: 95” x 95”
King Comforter: 111” x 95”
California King Comforter: 112” x 104”
7. How easy is it to return an item, if I don’t like it?
TopOTheBed.Com guarantees total satisfaction with all of its products and has a no questions asked satisfaction policy. This means that if you wish to return any product for any reason, you will receive a complete refund less a very small restock charge. This restock charge covers only administrative and initial shipping costs for running our returns program, and we do not make any profit from these costs. The only requirement is that you have not used (placed the items on a bed and/or slept on them) or washed any product. Due to sanitary bedding laws, once any item has been used or washed, they are by law not returnable.
When you receive your shipment, open the packages or containers and make sure you are satisfied, before putting products on bed mattresses or pillows. In the unlikely event that there is a defect (this rarely occurs) or, for whatever reason, you would like to return any item, you must contact us first at sales@topothebed.com , and request a Return Authorization Number (RAN). We will email you back with this number and instructions for shipping. Customers are responsible for all shipping charges back to the manufacturer, unless we are replacing an item due to a defect. TopOTheBed.Com will not pickup, send a driver, issue call tags, or be responsible for any return where an RAN has not been properly issued. No credits will be issued for any merchandise returned to manufacturers without an RAN.
Please note that any items which have any evidence of human or animal hair, debris or dirt, liquid spillage, stains, evidence of washing or drying, by law can not be returned. Just make sure you take a piece of tape, or lint brush, and remove any debris or hair from any unused product that is eligible for return consideration.
